Chelsea’s Nightmare: PSG’s Stealthy Pursuit of Colwill Amid Mbappe Saga

English club Chelsea are reportedly going to face a tough challenge for Levi Colwill from French side PSG. There are speculations that the French giants are eyeing on Colwill amidst ongoing Mbappe saga.

The Englishman has developed into a key figure under Mauricio Pochettino at Stamford Bridge after a successful loan at Brighton last season. Despite considered as ‘untouchable’ by the Blues, they may be forced to sell him for regulating their Financial Fair play. Luis Enrique’s side are willing to pay a sum of his marker value of £31.3m for the centre-back.

Levi Colwill to PSG? A concerning pursuit for Chelsea

Speaking on CaughtOffside, Jonathan Johnson said,

“PSG like Levi Colwill of Chelsea and may be prepared to play the long game to get him. The former Brighton defender is a player PSG have earmarked as a potential option in the defensive positions. But he’s probably more of an alternative at the moment to the one they have made their priority, and that’s Leny Yoro.”

Any successful pursuit for Colwill will be fuelled by the money saved after the departure of Kylian Mbappe. The 25-year-old superstar is heading for a deal at Real Madrid, leaving PSG with a healthy hole in their wage bill that they can use to bring in other players. Although PSG already boast two left-sided centre-backs in the form of Lucas Hernandez and Lucas Beraldo.

According to data analytics experts SciSports, Colwill has a marginally higher ceiling than Lille defender Yoro. He is coveted by many big clubs around Europe but seems to favour a move to PSG. Nevertheless, Chelsea will try their level best to keep Levi Colwill in their ranks as he is a huge talent for future. Be sure to have an eye on the saga in summer!
