Here we have with us the Chelsea player ratings during their lackluster draw against Wolves. Chelsea have again dropped points in their title march. They are now 3 points behind Liverpool and 3rd in the Premier League table. Whereas, Wolves are now 8th in the Premier League table. They are just behind the race for the top four among the big clubs.
The Blues were not able to trouble the Wolves’ defense as much. Both Chelsea and Wolves had one shot on target each. Therefore, the match was not the most entertaining match and Chelsea’s struggle to open the Wolves’ defense was clearly visible.
Chelsea had some good chances but were not able to finish those. However, there were not many chances for them to score, and had only 1 shot on target. Even Wolves managed to get a shot on target and had a tight defense to stop Chelsea. The Blues did not want to go through with this game as they had many injuries and some players tested positive for COVID.
Chelsea are losing ground for the title march and are now 6 points behind the league leaders Manchester City. Their injuries are a major factor for their recent dip in form. Wolves are doing well after their shaky start to the season. Even though they are not creating more chances but their defense has been solid and is getting them a few points.
Chelsea Player Ratings vs Wolves
Edouard Mendy – 6/10
Mendy was not as particularly busy against Wolves but made good stops when required.
Cesar Azpilicueta – 5/10
Was not able to cope up with the pressure from Marcal and Podence. However, he looked comfortable later on in the game.
Thiago Silva – 7/10
As usual, he was very calm and assured other players to get forward. His experience is very crucial for Chelsea for the backline.
Antonio Rudiger – 6/10
Did well physically to limit the Wolves forwards. Moreover, he was decent throughout the game and did the simple things well.
Reece James – 5/10
James had a horrific first half of the game and was not able to create chances as he does usually. Moreover, his poor positioning compromised the defense but got himself back in the second half.
Trevoh Chalobah – 4/10
Had to start the game in a different position than he usually plays. Therefore, he could not influence the game much and was taken off after a collision with Silva.
N’Golo Kante – 7/10
Was thrown straight into the starting lineup after returning from an injury. However, it did not look like he played his game in a long time at all.
Marcos Alonso – 5/10
Started poorly in the defensive department. Nevertheless, he deserved to get an assist for a lovely pass to Pulisic.
Mason Mount – 7/10
Visibly failed to understand his instructions at the start of the game. However, did well, later on, to keep constant pressure on the Wolves’ defense.
Hakim Ziyech – 4/10
He failed to do anything of significance in the game. However, he tried to play in a few good passes in the box and was taken off at the hour mark.
Christian Pulisic – 4/10
Should have got himself a goal with a great assist by Alonso. Moreover, he failed to be constantly involved in the game.
Substitutes
Saul Niguez – 6/10
He struggled to start at Chelsea but here he allowed the other Chelsea players to get forward and looked comfortable with a deeper role.
Mateo Kovacic – 6/10
Kovacic looked comfortable on the ball but was lucky to get away with a poor back pass.
