Chelsea is reportedly ready for bid Victor Osimhen bid despite Jackson’s form under manager Enzo Maresca. Chelsea is tearing up the Premier League. One big reason? Goals, goals, and more goals! The blues’ current squad is chocaholic with attacking players. They have been too cruel in front of the net this season.
Chelsea sit second in the league, behind only Tottenham Hotspur in terms of goals scored. The Blues have also been prolific with 37 goals scored, only second behind our side for big chances created (61). Liverpool have made 71 more.
As the January transfer window looms Maresca isnโt content with just being good; he wants to be great. Chelsea are also said to be targeting a new striker to beef up the firepower even more.
Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen, 25, on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, is also being linked with Chelsea. In Turkey, Osimhen is on fire after scoring 12 goals in 15 matches across all competitions. It also comes fresh off an impressive run for Napoli. Where he averaged an incredible 0.71 goals and assists per game over 133 appearances.
If Osimhen ends up at Chelsea. The Blues will have paid a reported ยฃ62m to secure his services. But there’s a break clause in his loan deal. Which gives him the right to leave Galatasaray permanently for a club prepared to stump up that figure.
The addition of Osimhen to the already potent Chelsea attack could give Premier League defences nightmares. Osimhen is a clinical finisher. So you know what he did at Galatasaray. His past at Napoli is just as impressive, however.
Victor Osihmen Again on the radar of Chelsea
Chelsea already has such a talented younger striker in Nicolas Jackson, however. Maresca’s at West Ham has seen Jackson remain a regular goalscorer. With nine goals in his 16 Premier League games so far and three assists.
His record is not one of ‘hasn’t scored in this many games and looked dodgy, then gone for two meaningless fish kills.’ Stuff that. He’s rarely gone more than two games without scoring and has always managed to find his way into the goals. Jackson’s best returns this season though came against West Ham to a 3-0 victory courtesy of a brace and Cole Palmer assist.
That would be bringing Osimhen to Stamford Bridge with incredible depth to the striker position. According to stats, both players are top-class. Osimhen averages 1.07 goals per game in the Turkish league this season. Jackson at 0.64 goals per game in the Premier League.
Competition for Jackson
If he signed Osimhen, goals would come, but so would competition. First, it makes both Jackson and Osimhen better players, and second, it pushes them for the starting spot. Maresca’s healthy competition serves to give him tactical flexibility.
He delivers both of them, one striker or even both strikers depending on the situation. Itโs an expensive ยฃ62m, but there could be a very sizable return from that, in the shape of trophies, goals and player development for Chelsea.
Adding Osimhen would solidify their position as title contenders and send a message to the rest of the league: Chelsea are here to win.
The January transfer window opens on the 1st of January. Rumours are rising that Chelsea will not be able to prize Osimhen away from the early pathways of Alessandrini ahead of a potential season switch. Further reports suggest that they may swap Christopher Nkunku with Victor Osimhen.
Author’s Opinion
In my view would also make the deal a little less complicated for both clubs, which are trying to bring both and vice versa players. More clubs want them both brilliant players. This transfer window is going to be one to watch. Could Osimhen move on to Chelsea and better their already explosive attack? Only time will tell, but one thing’s for sure. So, Chelsea fans are hoping for positive.
