Chelsea rejected a ‘lucrative’ offer

This season, Chelsea have started their campaign without a shirt sponsor. They rejected a multimillion-dollar contract from a gambling company. Instead of accepting Stake, they collaborated with an American sports data company, called Infinite Athletics. According to football.insider, the contract offered £40 million to the Blues. This season, Chelsea wanted more money from Infinite Athletics.

After a few months, the Chelsea owners can initiate the re-innovation work at Stamford Bridge. This will be a massive project because it will require a lot of money and time. This might be the reason why Chelsea demanded more money from their previous shirt sponsor.

On the other hand, the English Premier League authority has banned gambling companies from sponsoring any English club. This policy has prevented Chelsea from taking an attractive offer from Stake. Previously we have seen some gambling companies as the shirt sponsors of several teams. For example, Stake used to sponsor Watford FC.

Future projects at Chelsea

Stamford Bridge is one of the most underrated stadiums in England. The owners are focusing on its rebuild. Besides this, there are other activities at the club. Since the takeover of Clearlake Capital the club is being reconstructed from the core. Several managerial appointments, change in players and coaching staffs; clearly indicate that the Blues are in a transition period. In this time, Chelsea need money because they want to bring in players who can stabilize the dressing room with their master-class performances.

At this moment, the Blues are living up to everyone’s expectations. In this summer transfer window, Chelsea have raised almost £94.5 million because they have sold Omari Hutchinson to Ipswich Town for £22m, Ian Maatsen to Aston Villa for £37.5 and Lewis Hall to Newcastle United for £35m. Chelsea bought Omari Hutchinson when he was playing for the Arsenal under-21 team. He made his first Chelsea debut against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.

He didn’t make any impact in the first eleven. After a season, the Blues sold him to a championship side. On the other hand, the Blues have always dreamt about signing world-class Nigerian striker Victor Oshimhen. In the upcoming January transfer window, he will be the main target for Chelsea. Earlier he had a release clause of £113m. Now Napoli have reduced his price tag. So, teams like Chelsea are trying to lure the striker. The amount of fund they have generated from player sales will certainly help to bring in their dream striker.

Chelsea have already signed some decent players which include Jadon Sancho, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Tosin Adarabioyo, Marc Guiu, Omari Kellyman. If they can add Victor Oshimhen to this squad, it will make a formidable attacking front line which will have Christopher Nkunku and Cole Palmer on both wings and Victor Oshimhen at the number nine position.

Reasons for raising money

The Premier League governing body informed Chelsea that they have to raise money within a stipulated time. If they fail to do it, they will face the consequences for breaching the PSR rule. The punishments include point deduction and relegation. Other clubs like Manchester City, Everton, and Nottingham Forest are also struggling in this same condition. In the previous transfer window, Chelsea invested billions of pounds in bringing in new players. According to the Financial Fair Play rule, a club can invest a fixed amount of money for transfer moves. Chelsea have spent more than the maximum limit.

The new managerial appointment of Enzo Maresca has impacted the Blues from the core. The Italian tactician has brought a new mentality to the team. That is why they are winning games.
