Chelsea shortlist three high-profile strikers including Victor Osimhen

The transfer window is about to end, and Chelsea are still very busy signing a high-profile striker. At the start of this summer transfer window, Chelsea signed a new striker, Marc Guiu, from Barcelona. However, there is no doubt that Chelsea’s boss, Enzo Maresca, will use new signing Marc Guiu as a substitute or backup striker. That means Nicolas Jackson will be responsible for the main number nine position. Jackson started opening two matches in the Premier League against Manchester City and Wolves respectively. The Senegalese scored one goal and registered an assist in the last match against Wolves. So, this is a good start for the 23-year-old.

Will Victor Osimhen join Chelsea at the deadline day?

Chelsea want to sign a high-profile striker and they have some names shortlisted including Victor Osimhen, Ivan Toney of Brentford, and Jhon Duran of Aston Villa. Among these three options, Victor Osimhen’s move to Chelsea is one of the important ones. Chelsea are pushing so hard to make the deal possible. Napoli just signed Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea with a transfer fee of £25m. Napoli also want to sell Victor Osimhen as they already signed a new striker.

Chelsea have been trying to sign Victor Osimen since the last summer transfer window. But the Blues always fell short of completing the deal. This time the Blues also facing problems with signing the deal as Napoli are not willing to reduce the price of the Nigerian. Apart from that Victor Osimhen is also not interested in reducing his salary. All these factors are making this deal more complicated.

Ivan Toney and Jhon Duran are also shortlisted by Chelsea

Chelsea have shortlisted two more strikers apart from Victor Osimhen. They are English international Ivan Toney of Brentford. and Jhon Duran of Aston Villa. Since the transfer window has opened lots of rumors have been going on about the future of Ivan Toney. Ivan Toney has been performing brilliantly for Brentford for the last three seasons and that catches the attraction of Chelsea. The Blues are also interested in Ivan Toney. However, anything is not final yet between Chelsea and Brentford on Ivan Toney’s deal. The Blues are mainly targeting Victor Osimhen as of now but Toney is certainly on the list if the Blues fail to sign Osimhen.

And finally another Premier League striker, Jhon Duran also on the Chelsea striker list. Duran had a decent season last time around in the Premier League and scored 5 goals in 23 matches for Aston Villa. There is no doubt that Duran is much younger than the rest two strikers that we have discussed right now. As Chelsea have that tendency to sign young talents, we can’t overlook Jhonn Duran’s move to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues striker’s problem

Chelsea certainly need a high-profile striker who can produce lots of goals throughout the season. Last season the Blues’ main striker Nicolas Jackson scored only 14 goals in the Premier League and finished in the 13th position in the top-goalscorer list. Actually, the last time any Chelsea striker crossed the 15-goal mark was Diego Costa back in 2016/17. Since then no striker of crossed the 15-goal mark in the Premier League. This clearly shows that the Blues need a high-profile striker who can produce lots of goals for them.
