Chelsea star Ben Chilwell issues a statement before Liverpool face-off in Carabao Cup final

Chelsea star Ben Chilwell claims that they have some unfinished business with Liverpool at Wembley stadium. Chilwell led the Blues to a semi final victory against Middlesbrough to face Liverpool in the final. The Blues defeated Middlesbrough 6-1 while Liverpool won 3-2 on aggregate against Fulham in other semi final. This marks the fourth attempt for Ben Chilwell since joining Chelsea in 2020. Although he returned nack in the game after a long-term hamstring injury, he looked fine on the field. Besides this he shared that co-owner Behdad Eghbali expressed his satisfaction with Chilwell’s return during the customary post-match visit to the dressing room, stating that it was good to have him back.

During the post-match media session, the Englishman shared how he deals with injury setback everytime, aiming to do more in his recovery process compared to the previous times. Speaking about the challenges of the final, the left-back said they have some unfinished business with Liverpool at Wembley.

“It’s three finals we’ve lost [two FA Cups and one Carabao Cup] so 100 per cent there is unfinished business. We want to go and win and, as a group, we need to make sure that we go and really enjoy the experience and soak it in.”

Considering the history of domestic cup finals between the two sides, fans can expect a fierce clash at Wembley. However, tye record and current form edges the Merseyside club by margin. Moreover, two of those three finals stated by Chilwell were just a couple of seasons ago. Klopp and co. emerged out as victorious in the penalty shootout in both the finals of that season. Nevertheless, Pochettino will be determined to modify the records and grasp the first silverware of his Chelsea career.
