Despite changing the manager, Chelsea have not doing been performing at their best this season. At the start of this season, Chelsea appointed Enzo Maresca as the new manager. However, it seems like things have not changed a lot for the Blues, as they have managed to secure only two wins in the first four Premier League games of the new campaign.
Apart from the inconsistent results, the club was in the news again, after their star midfielder, Enzo Fernandez, suffered another problem. According to the news published by Sky Sports, the Argentinian has been banned from driving and penalized with £3,020 for two rash driving offenses.
Enzo Fernandez is one of the most crucial players in the current Chelsea squad. The Argentinian joined the Blues in the january transfer window of 2023, followed by his World Cup triumph with Argentina. Enzo Maresca joined the Blues for a British record transfer fee of £106.8m from Benfica. Since his arrival, the Argentinian has become an important part of the club. Last season, Fernandez made 40 appearances across all competitions for Chelsea. The 22-year-old has been a part of the squad in all five games of this season as well.
Another Controversy for Enzo Fernandez
However, in the last two months, Enzo Fernandez came into the spotlight not because of his performance on the field but rather some incidents that happened off the field. Just after the Copa America triumph, Enzo Fernandez came into the news because of some racist comments that he made after winning the Copa America. Some Chelsea players also showed some kind of disrespect to Fernandez. However, Enzo came forward with an apology message, and posted that on his social media accounts.
Now, Enzo Fernandez was found guilty of failing to identify as the driver of a Porche Cayenne on December 27 of the previous year. The 23-year-old was also sentenced for a further offense of failing to identify a vehicle on the 24th of January this year. However, it is still unclear whether the footballer was in the driving seat on either occasion or not. The Argentinian is penalized with a fine of £3,020 for these two incidents.
However, these kind of things might not affect the club and Enzo too much. Chelsea boss, Enzo Maresca, also stated the same when asked about this issue. Fernandez will most likely be available for the next matches. The 22-year-old is an important part of the squad.
More Chelsea news
Enzo Maresca would be happy with the performance his team put up against Bournemouth on Saturday as they managed to pick up all 3 points. Before entering the international break, Chelsea drew with Crystal Palace at home, with the Blues dropping points. However, the Blues secured all three points, resuming the new campaign in style.
Bournemouth had created more chances compared to Chelsea. However, the Blues ultimately scored the only goal that spared these two sides. Chelsea forward, Christopher Nkunku, scored the only goal of the match, which made the difference.
