After winning the ‘Young Player of the Year’ award, Chelsea gem, Cole Palmer, is being nominated for another Premier League Award. This award is August ‘Player of the Month’. According to Chelsea FC, Premier League authorities have announced an eight-man nomination list where the young Englishman has featured.
The list includes Erling Haaland, Bryan Mbeumo, Amadou Onana, Cole Palmer, David Raya, Bukayo Saka, Mohamed Salah, and Danny Welbeck.
Chelsea have played three Premier League games so far this season, where they won only one match which was against Wolves. In two of these matches, Palmer contributed with assists and goals. Till now, the young Englishman has bagged four assists and one goal. He helped Noni Madueke score his first hat-trick for Chelsea, which came against Wolves.
Last season, when Chelsea needed a proper playmaker, Palmer turned up and took that role. His performance in his debut season made all Chelsea fans fall instantly in love with him.
The Gem of Chelsea
In the football community, this player needs no description. He has already shown what he can do while on and off the ball. In the previous season, Palmer bagged 22 goals and 11 assists out of 33 matches in the Premier League. He finished the 2023–2024 season as the second-top scorer in the league. He single-handedly won games for a struggling Chelsea side and helped them qualify for Europe.
In the previous transfer window, Manchester City sold him for just £45 million. Now, everyone considers the deal to be an absolute bargain for Chelsea. On joining the Blues, former manager, Mauricio Pochettino, helped him thrive. He built an entire attacking system around Cole Palmer, where the former Manchester City player was the focal point.

The 22-year-old star has impressed all the Chelsea fans. The fans are extremely excited about Cole Palmer. When Chelsea needed goals, he was the one who provided them. He was Chelsea’s hero in some of the most memorable matches for the Blues last season, including the 3-2 win over Manchester United and the 4-4 draw against Manchester City.
These performances didn’t go unnoticed, as former England manager, Gareth Southgate, had decided to include Palmer in his 2024 Euro team. Even though Palmer wasn’t a regular starter for England at the Euros, his impact was clearly visible when he was on the pitch. He also scored England’s equaliser in the final, which was an absolute beauty.
The 22-year-old is a versatile attacker. He can play both on the right wing and as a number 10. With his brilliant left foot, he can cut inside and score a lot of goals. In terms of creativity, he is the man on whom Chelsea can depend upon for a long time. Who would have thought that the 22-year-old Manchester City outcast would lift up a struggling team like Chelsea.
For a midfielder, scoring 20 or more goals in a single season is not a joke. Generally, top scorers come from the teams that are performing well as an overall team. But it is really a difficult task to thrive in a struggling team, where the morale is also low.
Recently, Chelsea ran riot against Wolves by scoring six goals. In that match, Cole Palmer played a pivotal role. Besides providing three assists, he also scored a beautiful goal. In the next match, Palmer provided another assist to Nicolas Jackson in front of an open goal against Crystal Palace.
However, despite his incredible performance in August, Palmer might not be the favourite to win this award. Based on the recent performances, Erling Haaland will most likely win this award. The Norwegian striker has wreaked havoc, yet again, scoring 7 goals in just 3 games, also scoring hat-tricks in back-to-back games. Apart from Haaland, the Reds’ superstar, Mohamed Salah will also be a strong contender for the award. The Egyptian king has also begun his season in a fabulous way, scoring 3 and assisting 3 in just 3 games.
