Chelsea still have some hope of signing their ‘dream’ number nine

Although the dream move for Chelsea did not happen this summer transfer window, there is a twist in this transfer saga. Several reports are claiming that the Blues can turn back their attention to the Nigerian forward, Victor Osimhen, in the January transfer window.

According to football.london, there is a break clause in Osimhen’s Galatasaray contract. Once his loan spell is complete, Osimhen’s transfer price will reduce. This will make things easier for the Blues to sign the Nigerian striker.

In the last days of the summer transfer window, The Blues tried to pull off the deal of Osimhen, but the club was unable to reach personal agreements with the player. In a recent podcast, former Chelsea midfielder, John Obi Mikel, said that he knows what actually happened behind the scenes.

The Chelsea legend said that Osimhen didn’t reject Chelsea for money. The deal collapsed because of the club’s inability to complete final details of the contract and personal terms. Mikel said he knows Osimhen, and the player doesn’t chase money; he wants to play football in Europe, in the top competitions. That is why Osimhen has rejected Al-Ahli’s mega offer.

There was a massive tussle between Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, and Arsenal for Victor Osimhen. Previously, Osimhen agreed on personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain, but Napoli didn’t want to sell him to the Ligue 1 side. Napoli did this because they wanted to buy Chelsea’s striker, Romelu Lukaku.

At the end, none of them were able to sign the talented forward. Although Al-Ahli offered a perfect deal to Napoli, the deal could not happen due to some technical issues and negotiation issues.

Later, it was being said that Al-Ahli were negotiating with Napoli for Chelsea target Osimhen. This time, Napoli chose to play hard ball with the Saudi club. They demanded extra transfer fees when everything was fixed among the two clubs. This led to the collapse of the Osimhen deal.

The Victor Osimhen saga

Football transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano has expressed his thoughts on the Osimhen transfer story. He said that this transfer saga is one of the weirdest in his entire career. We all know that Romano’s ‘Here We Go’ label is the ultimatum for any football transfer. But in this case, he was confused about the transfer activities that were going on behind the scenes.

Everyone was expecting a big move for the Nigerian striker, which could have led him to join Chelsea or PSG. At the end, he joined Galatasaray on loan.

It is being said that the relationship between Napoli and Osimhen has broken. A few months ago, the Nigerian forward agreed to leave the club on a mutual agreement.

Although the Saudi transfer window is open till the end of September, it is certain that Al-Ahli will not come for Osimhen. So, the upcoming January transfer window will be the best time for Chelsea to snap up Victor Osimhen on a permanent deal. There is massive turmoil inside Chelsea. It seems that Clearlake Capital is going to acquire the entire stake at the club. So, we are expecting that this situation might get stable until the January transfer window.

Arsenal were also willing to pay £84.9 million for the Napoli striker. Although this transfer fee is less than the release clause for Osimhen, this deal was not about money. Chelsea and Napoli were in search of the perfect number nines. There was no doubt that new Napoli boss, Antonio Conte, wanted Romelu Lukaku. On the other hand, Chelsea needed a proper goal-scoring number nine.

Napoli sporting director, Giovanni Manna, flew to London to wrap up the deal between Osimhen and Chelsea. On top of that, both clubs agreed to a deal for Lukaku. Seeing such strong communications going on between Chelsea and Napoli, Arsenal have decided not to get involved in this transfer saga.
