Chelsea has reportedly included Kolo Muani in their January window wishlist. A few years ago Randal Kolo Muani became known. For Eintracht Frankfurt, he played well. In all competitions, he netted 23. France’s performance at last year’s World Cup also qualified as a better result for him.
So when he’d had this good year he used that good year to go over to PSG and get a lot of money. PSG paid about €80m. Chelsea was also said to have also been interested.
PSG have not seen such a good performance from Kolo Muani but Chelsea do. In the past 18 months, he has only scored 11 goals. This season he has only started two games. For their last two games, he wasn’t even on the bench. But he wants to go, probably on loan from PSG. If another team agrees to pay his wages, PSG want to let him go.
His last transfer might have been easier than this. There are indeed many top European teams interested. With Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Juventus, Napoli, AC Milan, Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur rumoured to be interested, it’s easy to see why. But Chelsea were also named but were quickly denied interest.
His would not be Christopher Nkunku’s or Marc Guiu’s, but also his. And we could hear Kolo Muani’s name again linked to Chelsea.
The transfer market is a living one. You have players that move between clubs for differing reasons. Sometimes we see a former great of a club not perform to their ability. Randal Kolo Muani is a case in point. While his transfer to PSG has been a high-profile move.
Kolo Muani on radar of Chelsea
It hasn’t delivered the results we have been used to. Speculation has been mounting about his future and this situation. It now seems likely to be a loan move. This would enable him to get his form and playback. It also allows other clubs to acquire a talented player.
At PSG, Kolo Muani’s time has been disappointing. But at Eintracht Frankfurt, he didn’t stop scoring, and now he struggles to match that form.
He’s fallen significantly off his goal-scoring record. He has had his playing time also reduced. It speaks for itself in what little starts he seems to have had and with him being omitted from matchday squads recently. These statistics are the perfect picture of his situation at the club.
The former West Ham striker has notched up 11 goals in the two-and-a-half seasons since. It is a considerable drop from the 23 he scored in a campaign at Frankfurt. He’s only played two games in this season so far. It further supports his small part on the team.
Chelsea on the hunt in the window
He’s not on the bench during recent games, as his standing in the squad continues to diminish. These are all of the facts and figures that are behind his reasons for wanting to leave PSG.
Kolo Muani’s loan move comes with a potential impact. For Kolo Muani, it gives him the chance to reinvigorate his career. It may enable him to regain his confidence and form after being written off by his former club. For the club he’s joining, it’s an opportunity to acquire a proven gal rider. And
this could help improve their attacking quality. A loan move may also play into PSG’s hand. That would help free up some of their wage bill. Also, if Kolo Muani performs well on loan it would increase his value. It would mean that in the future there could be a more lucrative permanent transfer.
Author’s opinion
Kolo Muani could benefit from a change of environment say the experts. They believe that this is the best environment for him to play and develop and his confidence is particularly important. If he has a successful loan spell he could rekindle his career and cement himself once more as one of Europe’s most promising forwards.
At the moment, the transfer window is open. Clubs are making a move to sign their transfer targets. His situation is grabbing considerable attention. He’s also been linked with moves to several top European clubs.
