According to reports Chelsea are looking to sign Brentford’s striker Ivan Toney as their replacement for Aubameyang. Back in August, Mirror had reported that Chelsea were really interested in signing Ivan Toney and were preparing for a bid. But it was reported that Thomas Tuchel wanted to sign former Arsenal player Aubameyang and eventually signed him on the deadline day. With Tuchel being replaced by Graham Potter, the interest in the English player is back again for the Blues. The 26-year-old had an amazing season for the Brentford team, it was unfortunate for him to miss a place in the World Cup.

Chelsea to try and sign the English Player in the transfer window

With Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku’s departure, the Blues had signed Aubameyang from Barcelona on the deadline day, hoping to add some more goals for the team but the player fell short in that department. He have scored 3 goals in 12 appearances across all competitions so far. Chelsea have been struggling with scoring goals for two seasons now. They hope to sign some strikers this transfer window to add some goals to the team. If the Blues are to progress to the Premier League table and challenge for the title then they would need a striker who scores goals and is a nightmare for the opposition’s defense. Having seen how good Toney is after being promoted to Premier League, the Blues look to add him to the team as they believe he would bring more goals and different dimensions to the team.

Ivan Toney’s season so far

The 26- year old have scored 11 goals and have 16 assists registered to his name in all competitions. This also includes the goals against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium before the World Cup break. He can drop deep for link-up plays and can also be a penalty-box striker. This would be highly rated at Stamford Bridge.
