Chelsea vs Fulham: Preview, Team News and Predicted Line-ups

As we approach game-week 34, Chelsea host their West London rivals Fulham at Stamford Bridge on Saturday at 10:00 pm IST. The Blues head into the fixture after their 1-1 draw midweek against Real Madrid in the Champions League.

The Blues are fighting in the race for top four and beat West Ham to move ahead in the table after being leveled on points with them. The Cottagers on the other hand are in a relegation battle and would give Chelsea a good fight for their cause.

Fulham though would need a lot more than luck knowing that Chelsea are in good momentum, with their only loss coming against West Brom in the Thomas Tuchel era.

Scott Parker’s side head into the fixture after their dramatic 1-1 draw against Arsenal where former blues academy player Eddie Nketiah scored against them in the 97th minute.

Chelsea Fulham, Six Sports

Chelsea should line up in their 3-4-3 formation, though we should expect a lot of rotations since the Blues have a super busy fixtures uphead against clubs like Real Madrid, Manchester City, Arsenal and a FA cup final against Leicester City. Players need to be rested, minds need to be kept sharp for the huge games ahead.

Tuchel confirmed both Kovacic and Rudiger might be a doubt for the game in his pre-match interview

Kurt Zouma could start giving the 36-year old Thiago Silva a rest. Either Mason Mount or N’golo Kante might play in the midfield with in form Jorginho.

Reece James should pair up with Marcos Alonso and give club captain Cesar Azpilicueta a rest from playing wing back who’s started the last two games at that position in which he has had to cover a lot of ground.

In the attack we should see Hakim Ziyech and Kai Havertz to start since they haven’t played too much and came off the bench against Real Madrid. Callum Hudson Odoi should start too from the left to avoid risking Christian Pulisic get an injury knowing that they have so much depth in that area.

Fulham on the other hand have only this fixture in their mind and should start with their go to 4-4-2 formation. The bulk of the team who started in the draw at the Emirates should retain their places.

Terence Kongolo, Marek Rodak and Tom Cairney are all out for the long term, while Kenny Tete’s involvement is uncertain as he aims to recover from covid. Ruben Loftus Cheek would be out of this fixture since he can not play against his parent club. Former Chelsea player Ola Aina would be looking forward to the fixture.

Chelsea: Mendy; Christensen, Zouma, Thiago Silva; James, Jorginho, Kante, Alonso; Ziyech, Havertz, Callum Hudson Odoi

Fulham: Areola; Aina, Andersen, Adarabioyo, Robinson; Decordova-Reid, Lemina, Zambo Anguissa, Lookman; Maja, Mitrovic

The Blues have not lost at the Bridge to their postcode neighbours for 23 top-flight matches. Though we expect nothing less from Fulham, we expect Chelsea to win 2-1 in the west london derby.
