According to SB Nation, Chelsea win their first match of the pre season. The reaction of fans all over the world says it all. This was the third match of Chelsea’s pre season tour. Their first game of the pre season was against Wrexham which ended in a 2-2 draw. From Chelsea Christopher Nkunku opened the scoring and Lesley Ugochukwu scored the equalizer. Chelsea came from behind to draw the match. This was the first match of Chelsea under their new manager Enzo Maresca. Fans all over the world were hoping the new manager to adapt to his new squad quickly. Chelsea’s second game of the pre season was against Celtic. Now this was a rather disappointing match for the Blues. Chelsea lost the match with a score line of 4-1. However when asked Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca on his reaction to the team’s performance, he gave an unexpected answer.
According to Enzo Maresca, Chelsea had a decent game. The Chelsea boss believe his team was better on the ball and they were just unlucky in finding the goal. Many players like Reece James, Christopher Nkunku were returning to play for Chelsea after some big injuries. Young players like Romeo Lavia had their first minutes for the club. Many other young players were also given the chance as Chelsea looks to prepare for the big season ahead. Chelsea’s opening game of the tournament will be against Premier League champions Manchester City. This will be a big challenge for both the team and the manager. Enzo Maresca will be under huge pressure to figure out his squad and his tactics before the season starts in some days. Moreover Chelsea will be hoping their senior players to return from the international break as early as possible to prepare for the season ahead.
Chelsea win 3-0 against Club America
Chelsea had a very tough season last year. Football fans were shocked after Chelsea decided to sack their manager Mauricio Pochettino before next season. Even after all the struggles last season, Pochettino managed to finish sixth place with Chelsea. This is a big improvement on their 12th place finish from the previous season. It was not an easy situation for Pochettino given the number of injuries that happen during the season. Many important players like former Chelsea captain Reece James was out for majority of the season. Chelsea also signed many youngsters in the previous transfer windows like Romeo Lavia, Moises Caicedo. Many of these youngsters took a very long time to adapt to the Premier League football and struggle to find their form for a very long time. Due to injuries these players were not able to adapt to the always changing tactics.
Chelsea are now very lucky that their key players like Reece James, Christopher Nkunku are back for the pre season and starting to find their form. If we compare Chelsea’s first pre season game with the third game, there is some solid improvement. Chelsea win 3-0 against defending Liga MX champions Club América. This Chelsea squad was looking more hardworking especially after their tireless first half performance. Robert Sanchez made an amazing save in the match for Chelsea. After lots of debate this summer, we can still hope to see Sanchez as the main goalkeeper for Chelsea this season. Ben Chilwell also made an amazing save in defense. It will be a tough decision for Enzo Maresca to choose between Ben Chilwell and Marc Cucurrella for the left back position. All over the preparations for the season looks good for Chelsea. We can see this squad doing wonders next season.
