Chelsea would reportedly like Romelu Lukaku to sign for Bayern Munich this summer, rather than Inter Milan.
THE FULL STORY
Lukaku during his first season at Stamford Bridge managed to score just 15 goals. That is a below-par return for a player who cost £97.5 m. While there have been reports on the future of the Belgium international with regards to him staying at Chelsea. But, the general consensus is that the player would like to return to San Siro if an opportunity arises. With Inter not having the financial muscle to sign him permanently, the Italian giants would have to find a loan agreement with an obligation to buy in 2023. The 29-year-old is allegedly also prepared to take a pay cut to help facilitate the complex deal. Now, according to reports in Italy, Chelsea is keen for Bayern Munich to enter negotiations. Chelsea thinks Bayern can offer a more profitable deal than Inter Milan.
ARE INTER STILL IN THE RACE
Inter Milan is still in the race. Bayern and Lukaku both need to be convinced that the deal is profitable for both. First of all, Robert Lewandoski whom Lukaku would replace at Bayern has to be allowed to move to Barca for a new challenge. That deal itself is complicated due to Barca in debt and Bayern’s reluctance to let him leave. That’s where Inter comes into the picture. According to the reports, Inter might offer Stefan De Vrij as a part of the Lukaku deal. Stefan De Vrij would potentially replace Antonio Rudiger who has joined Real Madrid on a free transfer. Stefan has only 12 months left on his contract and is valued at 25 million and is an integral part of Inter defense. He would fit perfectly in a 3 man defense of Chelsea.
Well everyone is keeping the cards close to their heart. Now we can only wait and see who makes their moves first.
