Chelsea’s Lifeline? Florent Malouda Points to Mourinho Amidst Pochettino Uncertainty

There are reports suggesting Chelsea are considering the sacking of Mauricio Pochettino after defeat to Liverpool. Now, Florent Malouda, a former Blues star, believes that Jose Mourinho is the ideal candidate for the job.

The Blues are currently in a very pathetic condition in all competitions. Not only they are 11th in the League but also lost Carabao Cup final to a young Liverpool side. In the aftermath of the defeat, reports claim that Pochettino’s future is now in doubt at Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho is the only answer to Chelsea’s problems as per Malouda

Florent Malouda shares his insight on the future of the Argentine with the club. While he believes that the Chelsea hierarchy will stick with him for now, former boss Mourinho is the only viable candidate to take over. Speaking to Ladbrokes Fanzone, he said,

“I am not worried about Pochettino. I am worried about Chelsea. In terms of managers, when you look at the options available apart from Mourinho, there is nobody obvious for the job that could make a big difference.

I believe in stability, and I believe the club should support the manager and include him more in the process of picking players in the club strategy. I definitely think we need to stick with Pochettino. Instead, we need to bring people on board now who can back him up and help him develop his ideas.”

The Portuguese manager will definitely be the one in the minds of fans if Pochettino is fired. Moreover, the former Manchester United coach has also express his love and affection for the club in the past. Last year, he even said,

“Chelsea will always be big and my house will always be 200 metres away from the stadium so I want to keep listening to the sound of happiness and success. I’m pretty sure it’s going to be like that.”

Mourinho is currently available for job as Italian club AS Roma sacked him a few weeks ago. The former Champions League winning manager was unable to give the results this season to the club. Although, he made them the European champions for the first time in his first season with them. He was in line to quickly return with a move to Saudi side Al-Shabab but reportedly rejected the opportunity.
