Chelsea were closing in on signing Victor Osimhen this summer. They were contesting with the likes of Arsenal and PSG for the 25-year-old striker. Offers from even Saudi were on the table. But the Blues came closest to signing him. A move was right on the horizon. But the transfer would collapse on the final few days of the window. As a result, the striker had no options remaining. Galatasaray made the most of the situation and made a loan deal with Napoli. There are still some reports that the Blues might move for the 25-year-old in January. But Christantus Uche could be a great alternative for them.
Who is Christantus Uche?
The 21-year-old striker came into notice while playing for Spanish third-tier Ceuta. As of now, he plays for Getafe. He would score on his debut. Since then, he has managed to start all of the games for the club. As per football365, Chelsea have already made an enquiry for Christantus Uche. The striker is more than capable of scoring as well as creating goals. At the same time, he would also cost much lesser. Reports suggest that he has a very reasonable release clause in his contract.
Should Chelsea sign Victor Osimhen?
Nicolas Jackson is already starring for the Blues. The striker is young enough. So perhaps Chelsea now need a little more experience and class up front. Victor Osimhen can offer that. Although same cannot be said for Christantus Uche as of now. If the Blues really wish to challenge for the Premier League title, signing Osimhen makes more sense. They can pretty much trigger his ‘break clause’ in January and sign him. At the same time, Napoli have also made a reduction in his release clause. Although if Chelsea want to go on with their policy of signing very young players, Christantus Uche makes a good case for himself.
