Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has made a major statement advising Alpine to sign Daniel Ricciardo for 2023.

In the aftermath of the Alpine-Piastri-McLaren drama, Daniel Ricciardo has lost his seat for 2023. The Aussie is yet to bag a seat and has also indicated a possible break from F1 in 2023.

Nevertheless, Christian Horner believes that the ex-Red Bull driver still has a lot in him.

Speaking on a podcast, Horner stated Ricciardo is still capable of winning races and bagging podiums:

“I think I probably would (go with Ricciardo) to be honest with you,”

he said.

“They obviously know him from a couple of seasons ago and he was very together during his last season there, scoring podiums, and I think he’s the type of guy that, I think you could rebuild him.

“It’s obviously not been a great experience for him (at McLaren) for whatever reason. But you just have to think back to some of the drives that he did for us, some of the wins he had, the podiums, some of the stunning overtakes he was capable of. That’s still in there I’m sure, he just needs a bit of a reset.

“You don’t just forget how to deliver. So, I hope for him he gets another opportunity and gets himself back on the grid for next year.”

Daniel Ricciardo enjoyed a great time at Red Bull under Christian Horner. The Aussie went on to win 7 races for the team and scored numerous podiums.

However, things have been on a downside ever since he cut the ties with the Milton Keynes-based team.

Let’s see if the 8-time race winner can make a comeback in the upcoming season. And more importantly, if Ricciardo can bag a seat.
