Following the Red Bull budget breach scandal rumors, Christian Horner has reacted bluntly to the possibility of Max Verstappen being stripped of the 2021 title.

The recent rumors indicate that Red Bull might have breached the 2021 budget cap. FIA is investigating the matter.

In this scenario, the team might be handled a penalty.

The penalty can vary from a fine to a deduction of Championship points. Following this, there are rising rumors that Verstappen might lose his 2021 title because of the penalty.

Following these rumors, Red Bull boss Christian Horner has reacted. The Briton has deemed the claims to be totally “ridiculous“.

“The FIA have come out and made it very clear that they haven’t even concluded their process,”

Horner told Sky Sports F1.

“And they’re in their process. How can anybody make that claim? It’s ridiculous.”

FIA put the budget cap at $145 million for 2021.

Horner was asked if he believes in the principle that all teams should play by the rules, Horner came with a swift response:

“The principle, yes. But you have to look at how regulations are applied.

“We know one team has, for example, had a change of its accounting process of how it deals with heritage parts, which is different to the regulations.

“So in a year of very complicated regulations like this, there is always going to be different interpretations and that’s where the FIA have taken their time to work through this and indeed are still doing so.

“I’ve heard some ridiculous numbers being mentioned which is, again, where does that come from?”

Christian Horner and Max Verstappen alongside Red Bull were in a fierce battle with Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton in 2021. Verstappen ultimately snatched the title from Hamilton.
