Christopher Nkunku news: Bayern and Chelsea to work on a deal

Bayern could offer unwanted stars to Chelsea as part of deal for Christopher Nkunku.

Christopher Nkunku at Chelsea since joining

The Frenchman’s time at the Stamford Bridge has been far away from good. And now it seems that their story might come to an end after this season.

He was brought in a full year before he actually joined. That allowed time to create the hype around the move. He was great in his first preseason. But he picked up an injury in the final preseason friendly in 2023.

From there it hasn’t been the same. It’s been a disaster since then. He worked hard to get back to fitness by the end of last season. Although, the former manager Mauricio Pochettino never gave him much game time under him.

The arrival of the new boss, Enzo Maresca didn’t change any thing in favour of Nkunku. The head coach preferred Nicolas Jackson over him. He was only playing in the domestic cup competitions. Although, since Jackson’s injury, he has been given his proper game time. His return to regular games hasn’t had much impact. Some also think that he is a bad fit for this team. He also seems a little uninterested playing here. That being said, the rumours about his exit continue.

Bayern Munich wants Christopher Nkunku

According to German transfer insider, Christian Falk, Bayern are interested in the France international. However, to get their potential target, they’d have to sell first.

Falk has always been tracking the German giant’s transfer moves. As per his exclusive Daily Briefing, he claims that the Vincent Kompony side could be sold to sign the Chelsea forward. The likes of Goretzka, Zaragoza, Guerreiro, Boey and Palhinha could be on the transfer list. They might sell these players to fund a deal for the Blues attacker.

There’s a chance that plenty of those players could be linked to the Premier League club. They might work on a swap deal if possible. That might be the case as some of those players are quite good. Palhinha or Guerreiro can be a great signing.

However, with high-profile transfers, mostly things happen in separate deals. There’s very less possibility of a swap deal.

Arsenal legend names Chelsea striker who can help Palmer to get back his form

Arsenal legend Martin Keown thinks that Christopher Nkunku can help Cole Palmer get back to his best. The Blues currently just have two wins from their last ten league games. Their latest defeat was against Aston Villa on Saturday. They lost 2-1 after Villa’s Marco Asensio scored a brace.

The west London side is now sixth in the Premier League. They’re now fighting for a place in the top four. They’ll have a huge work to do to qualify for the Champions League next campaign.

Keown believes that the 27-year-old forward can help the England international get back to his best form. He wrote in his Mail Sport column: “Chelsea need Nkunku to stretch the play for Palmer to help them to be more creative.

“With Noni Madueke also injured, Pedro Neto and Jadon Sancho need to start contributing goals and assists. For too long, Maresca has relied too heavily on the Jackson-Palmer axis.”

Enzo Maresca is facing the lack of quality attacking options recently. With Marc Guiu and Nicolas Jackson out for months, the club is in a striker crisis it seems.

The French attacker will be looking to play a key role over the final 13 league games. Maresca needs to find a way to use him to his advantage. He needs to get the best out of the striker.

Author’s Opinion

What happens to the potential deal between Bayern and Chelsea over the France international is a topic for the summer. Now everyone will be expecting a great run of performances form Nkunku in absence of Jackson.
