Cole Palmer is at the center of attention once against as Chelsea managed to scrape-off a point against Manchester United. The 22-year-old midfielder did produce a good performance. But not quite up to his illustrious standards. He would show his dribbling and passing abilities throughout the game. But it was still far from the best that we have seen from him. He had no goal contributions and any direct impact in front of goal. But that is the thing about good players. They are able to influence the game indirectly too. And the 22-year-old was able to do the same. He still managed to create a difference even when not at his best.
Injury concern amidst Lisandro Martinez controversy
The game was tightly locked 1-1. Both teams were keen to win the fixture. In the dying stages of the game, Lisandro Martinez would foul Cole Palmer. The defender would catch the midfielder somewhere above his knee. But he still wasn’t sent off. VAR did review the incident but decided not to intervene. Premier League would even release statements justifying the decision. Red card or not may not be that big a worry for Chelsea fans now. Especially, given that their talisman could now be out due to an injury. As per football.london, he was seen taking an ice-pack in the changing room. There are no updates regarding his injury yet.
Cole Palmer ineffective against big teams?
The 22-year-old has one of the best seasons in the footballing world last campaign. He even managed to score and perform against the topmost teams last time. For instance, he would be a matchwinner scoring a hattrick for Chelsea against Manchester United last time. But Cole Palmer has failed to have a similar effect against the big teams this season. It feels like the top dogs have managed to figure out a way to keep him quite. The 22-year-old will have to adapt his game and produce against top teams too. Else, he will never be able to truly unlock his potential.
