Young Saurashtra pacer Chetan Sakariya’s father Kanjibhai Sakariya died due to COVID-19 at a hospital in Bhavnagar on Sunday. He was 42 and was battling the infection for the past few days.
The Saurashtra Cricket Association condoled the demise. “Saurashtra Cricket Association conveys heartfelt condolences to Chetan and prays to the Almighty to give enough strength to everyone in his family to bear the loss and grant eternal peace to the departed noble soul,” the cricket body said in a brief statement.
Rajasthan Royals on Chetan Sakariya’s Father’s demise
Rajasthan Royals have expressed deep condolence towards Sakariya family.
The left-arm pacer made his debut in RR’s first match of the season. He picked up three wickets for 31 runs on his IPL debut including Punjab Kings openers KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal.
Before the suspension of IPL, Sakariya played seven games and took seven wickets with an average of 31.71 and an economy rate of 8.22.
