Cricketers and their crazy fan stories

Rahul Dravid is undoubtedly one of the greatest cricketers to have ever graced the field in the history of the sport. Rightly called India’s Mr. Dependable, Dravid has been the crisis man for his team both on and off the field. His illustrious career has seen him do multiple jobs for the team. From keeping wickets to playing as a finisher and he also led the side. Even after retirement, the maestro had a brief stint in the commentary box to later be a coach for the India U-19 and India A squad.

From Captain To Coach , Dravid continues to deliver

After serving as the NCA chief, Dravid was roped in as Shastri’s successor as the Head Coach. His new innings started off well where the team hammered Kiwis at home. However, the Men In Blue failed to script history. They lost both the Test and ODI series in the rainbow nation.

Dravid is a precedent for several budding cricketers across the globe. His calm composure to his ability to soak pressure in the most precarious stages of the game makes him a perfect idol for many. No doubt, fans got thrilled after BCCI appoint Dravid as the Coach after Shastri. Nothing could be a better treatment for his followers to watch him once again back in the Indian dressing room, that too in a new role.

“I am not going to leave”

In an interview with comic Vikram Sathaye, Dravid opened up on a chucklesome anecdote of a fan who was obstinate to leave his place at Bengaluru after meeting him.

He gave the game away to share the entire episode with the female fan.

“I had just come from a tour and I was sleeping in the afternoon. When I woke up, my parents told me to go and meet this fan who had come all the way from Hyderabad. She was waiting there for an hour and a half. At first, I thought it would be a simple taking autograph or photograph thing.”

“She said, ‘no I am not going to leave. I have left my home and come. I will stay here only’ and I was taken aback. It ended quite well but it was a wake-up call for my parents that you don’t let anyone in just like that,” Dravid concluded while laughing.

The Men In Blue will host the West Indies for a 3 match ODI series in Ahmedabad from February 6. The series will be followed by a 3 match T20I series in Kolkata.
