Manchester United player Cristiano Ronaldo is all set to represent Portugal for the World Cup. Portugal starts their World Cup campaign with a match against Ghana and will then take on South Korea and Uruguay. Cristiano Ronaldo is set to enter his 5th World Cup for Portugal which could also be his last one for the national team. Having won every club-level honor in Europe, the World Cup is the only prize that evades him. Ronaldo has a record of scoring 117 goals for his country with 7 of them being from the previous World Cup matches.

Ronaldo’s message ahead of the World Cup

After the squad was announced, Ronaldo shared on his Instagram,

“Once again, ready to raise the name of Portugal very high! There are 26 names on Mister Fernando Santos’ list, but we’re all summoned! Go Portugal!”

The Manchester United player will be joined by his teammates Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot along with Premier League mates Bernardo Silva, Ruben Dias, and Joao Cancelo from Manchester City.

Portugal coach on Ronaldo’s form

In recent months the 37- year old player is seen declining for the first time in his career. Many have even questioned if Ronaldo’s career is truly over given his age.

“Ronaldo played in the last four matches, let’s not talk about what was happening a month ago,”

Santos commented while speaking on the matter,

“Right now he is playing. Every player that I have selected will come eager to win and to make Portugal a world champion, including Ronaldo.”

The fans are excited to see Ronaldo prove all those speculations wrong and continue to represent Portugal at the biggest stage.
