Manchester United have appointed former Newcastle United sporting director Dan Ashworth for the same role.
Why United have appointed Dan Ashworth?
Since Sir Jim Ratcliff and is INEOS group has taken over Manchester United they are making changes in the hierarchy. Now they have changed their sporting director. From these actions it is completely clear that the owner want to develop Manchester United in all aspects.
We all know that Sporting Directors lead all the transfer negotiations and other things related to a transfer move. So, it is really important to have an excellent Sporting Director. And Dan Ashworth is certainly one of them because he was behind all the transfer moves that Newcastle made. He helped the Magpies to bring in players like Bruno Guimares, Sven Botman, Sandro Tonali, Aleksander Isak and many more. And we all know how they all performed in English Premier League. Manchester United also want this type of transfer activities.
So, Dan Ashworth is the perfect man for this job. On top of that he had ambitions to work for Manchester United. According to Sky Sports he was on a leave from Newcastle. Then the Red Devils negotiated with him regarding this role and a statement was released and it said, “Newcastle United and Manchester United have reached an agreement for the immediate release of Dan Ashworth from his contractual obligations at Newcastle United. The terms of this agreement remain confidential between the clubs. Newcastle United thanks Dan for his services and wishes him well for the future.“
Manchester United’s future
The fans are hoping to see their team win every single match. They want to spectate fluent football in the theatre of dreams as well as in other stadiums. For this the board has to hire someone proficient who can bring in right players to Old Trafford. Till now the Red Devils have brought in players based on their hype. For example there was high demand for Brazillian winger Anthony. So they splashed €100 million on him.
The Red Devils should apply Chelsea’s strategy. This time the Blues sporting director Paul Wintansley and his group has thoroughly researched about the players they are going to sign. This strategy has helped them to bring in players like Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson, Axel Disasi, Dorde Petrovic. Each of them has contributed a huge part in Chelsea’s 2023-2024 Premier League campaign.
That is why Manchester United have appointed Dan Ashworth because he can rectify their transfer strategy and take the right decision for the club. For now he has a big task ahead of him. He will be negotiating with Marcus Rashford for his new contract extension.
