Daniel Ricciardo called Lando Norris a sh**head four times during a post-race interview at Le Castlette.
This season things don’t seem to be going Ricciardo’s way. The 8-time race winner is struggling to keep up with his teammate who has scored more than three times the Australian. The 33-year-old has scored only 19 points compared to Norris’ 70. So far, it has been a season to forget for the Australian.
However, French Grand Prix saw both McLaren scoring points and coming home with double points finish. Norris scored a 7th whereas, Daniel Ricciardo came home to secure P9.
The McLaren upgrades seemed to work as intended with the car showing a strong pace to challenge Alpine. The team is currently battling for 4th in Constructor Championship with Alpine ahead of them on P4 by just 4 points.
Daniel Ricciardo’s “awkward” interview
Ricciardo made a major mistake after the French Grand Prix. The Australian was talking with a reporter in Italian about Norris.
While talking about Norris’ race he called the 22-year-old a “stronzo“. He said:
“Lando, Il stronzo“
The word “stronzo” simply translates into S**thead or A**hole in English.
The reporter corrected Daniel Ricciardo shocking him. The Australian asked:
“Is it not a good word?”
To which the Italian reporter simply replied:
“No”
The Australian then seemed to laugh off the incident with Norris appearing behind him just seconds later.
It seems that the 33-year-old just wanted to praise his teammate for the brilliant result. However, a simple mistake made it look another way around. When asked about the battle with Alpine, Daniel Ricciardo answered:
“Yeah, I do think they were quicker today. I would probably call it an Alpine baguette if we’re being geographically correct.”
Ricciardo continued making jokes in the interview.
