Daniel Ricciardo returns to F1 with Red bull in a few months

Daniel Ricciardo has signed a deal with red bull joining his old team again from 2023 onwards.

McLaren axed Daniel Ricciardo following a season of disappointment. This left Ricciardo without a seat for the upcoming season. Ultimately, the Aussie returned to his old team. Ricciardo officially joined red bull as a third driver. The ex-red bull driver is also expected to be seen in an ambassador role with the Milton Keynes-based team.

The 33-year-old has indicated that we will see him back at the paddock in Australia during the Australian Grand Prix. Ricciardo recently said in a podcast:

“I would likely say Melbourne would probably be my first one. I’ve got to check the calendar, but I’m pretty sure Melbourne would make sense, and any excuse to get back to Aus.”

The new role of Ricciardo will primarily include simulator drives and pre-season testing based in the Milton Keynes headquarters.

However, Ricciardo could debut much before. The rumors indicate a probable F1 drive at Mount Panorama Circuit based in Australia possibly in February. It is expected that red bull will run a demonstration drive of their 2011 title-winning car.

Horner settles rumor around a possible race seat for Ricciardo

Many rumors indicating Daniel Ricciardo returning as the main driver with Red bull in 2024 have been swirling around for a while now. However, Red bull team principal Christian Horner has cleared the clouds around the rumors. When asked if the contract had a possibility of a race return for Ricciardo, Horner denied it:

He commented:

“No, no, Daniel’s contract’s very specific for a specific reason.”

“We have a contract with Checo for the next two years. What the partnership of Max and Checo has produced has been phenomenal for us.”
