Darwin Nunez: The new hope of Man Utd

With the appointment of Ten Hag Man Utd is again linked with some very high-profile players, but the limelight this time has been stolen by Benfica’s Darwin Nunez. According to a news outlet, The Mirror Benfica has made it clear to Man Utd that Nunez will not leave anything less than £100 million. The price set is there for a reason as Man Utd is not the only one in the race to sign the Uruguayan international.

Erik Ten Hag wants to acquire the services of a 22-year south American center forward to add an edge to the blunt attack of red devils. The demand for a striker as sharp as Nunez had his price inflated. With the current scenario, it is very unlikely that any club would be going with such a significant amount only on one player. Man Utd even had made Benfica aware of the price being unrealistic.

What Makes Nunez So Special?

There’s a reason why everyone wants Nunez even with an inflated price. Talking about numbers he has scored 34 goals with 4 goal contribution in 32 starts out of 41 this season. His form is something that everyone at Old Trafford wants to witness. Although Liga NOS is completely different from the Premier League and it also doesn’t mean he’ll perform with the same intensity wherever he goes. The premier league is the most difficult and to maintain standards here without getting burnt out is something quite astronomical to achieve.

For Nunez, it doesn’t seem like a problem as he has scored in the champions league. Benfica may not have clinched victory in these matches but the world got to know about a new star in making. Scoring against Bayern, Barcelona, and Liverpool is a big thing, especially at such a young age.

At Anfield, Nunez found the back of the net thrice but unfortunately, the linesman denied two of them. Scoring at Anfield is a magnificent feat because at Anfield Liverpool plays with 12 players on the pitch.

Nunez impressed Van Dijk in that match, although couldn’t quite overcome the dutch completely but gave him a really hard time.

Man Utd will be the perfect stage for Nunez but only one problem lies and that is Man Utd can’t offer him Champions league game time this season. With the possible departure of at least stars from the squad including some big names, Man Utd isn’t into a major rebuilding but a big mess. Splashing £100 million on just a single player won’t be a wise choice but Ten Hag has got his tactics and all fans can do is believe in him.
