The West Ham United manager, David Moyes will depart after the end of this campaign. There is mutual consent between the club and manager regarding the same. Moyes took West Ham to new heights after rejoining the club four and a half years ago. Unfortunately, they did not manage to get a European spot this season.
Additionally, the fans are tired of Moyes’ game style and are looking to see a manager that has a different approach. However, some fans believe that Moyes is the best manager for West Ham and that he shouldn’t leave. The question that now arises is where the manager will go after leaving the Hammers? Although there is no guarantee of what could happen, there are several possibilities for Moyes’ future.
Where could Moyes go after leaving the Hammers?
According to sources, the manager who will be taking Moyes place is Julen Lopetegui. The ex-Wolves manager was out of work since his departure in August 2023. Although no deal is signed, Lopetegui is close to making his managerial return. Additionally, Moyes could also make a shock return and handle a top club. However, fans believe that Moyes will manage a club only if a struggling teams that want to avoid relegation sack their manager. Additionally, sources state that the 61-year-old could also get a chance for an international job. Although Moyes’ chance of managing the Scotland national team is close to impossible with the team performing brilliantly under Steve Clarke, the West Ham manager could get a chance to manage the Republic of Ireland.
What did the former Liverpool player say about the West Ham boss?
Former Liverpool player, Mark Lawrenson, who is also a friend of Moyes is backing the West Ham manager to manage the Ireland national team.
While speaking about Moyes in an interview, Lawrenson said,
“The thing with Moyesey is, he would be absolutely full on. He can’t do a job that’s only 90 per cent, it’s got to be absolutely full on. And he’d be watching players that could possibly play for Ireland everywhere and going to all sorts of games because it’s no stone left unturned with him…”
“He very much likes to be (hands-on). He does all the training, nearly all the coaching etc. You just don’t know (unless you ask the question), he can’t sit at home, there’s no way he can sit at home that’s just not him.”
-added the former Liverpool player.
Lawrenson also mentioned that the Ireland job will be fit for Moyes as it’s not about the money for him. Moreover, when Lawrenson spoke to Moyes about his future, he said that he was not worried about whatever happens. The ex-Liverpool man also said that Moyes will get another job and just won’t sit at home because football is his life.
David Moyes’ last game as the West Ham manager could decide the Premier League title winner
In the last Premier League game week, the Hammers will face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. This will be David Moyes’ last game as the West Ham manager. With the title race between Man City and Arsenal gone down to the last game week, West Ham and Everton could be the deciders. While City face West Ham, Arsenal will face Everton at home. If the Hammers manage to defeat City and Arsenal win against Everton, the Gunners will win the 2023/24 Premier League title. However, if City defeat West Ham, they will win the title regardless of Arsenal’s score line versus Everton. It is sure to be an intense day of football for the fans no matter who wins the title.
