Destiny Udogie: The latest Spurs signing

tennis player

Tottenham Hotspur are expected to sign Udinese wonderkid Destiny Udogie soon. He will be loaned back to the Serie A outfit to continue his development and get regular minutes on the pitch.

Udogie will be Spurs’ seventh signing of the window. The Lilywhites already brought Ivan Perisic on a free transfer this window for the left wingback spot. However, the Croatian is a veteran and is at N17 for the short term. Udogie on the other hand seems to be a prospect who is one for the future.

The Italian’s transfer rumours have really picked up steam in recent days. Despite their agreement to loan him back to Udinese for the upcoming season, the Lilywhites are reportedly very eager to secure a deal for the promising Italian.

What Udogie Offers

Udogie began the previous season by switching from Hellas Verona to Udinese. He developed into a significant player for them over the course of the season.

Destiny Udogie is an extremely attack-minded player. He even played as a winger at times last season. He was in the top three percentile for goals among defenders in the top 5 leagues last year. On the defensive side too, he was in the top 18 percentile of the defenders in terms of tackles completed, winning 1.82 per 90.

His pace and 6-foot-2-inch frame make him robust and athletic. He is able to make recoveries if he is caught out of position while attacking. This is something Antonio Conte often looks for in his wide defenders, making Udogie the perfect candidate to compete with Ryan Sessegnon and Ivan Perisic when he arrives at White Hart Lane.

In all, Udogie seems like a coup for Tottenham. Fan will hope that he will join him soon and fulfil his potential, taking the club to new heights.
