Gautam Gambhir, veteran cricketer, and East Delhi MP started a zonal premier league for cricketers coming from humble backgrounds. The tournament aims to give a platform for new heroes to live their dreams to play on a big stage. The league which began on November 30 at the revamped Yamuna Sports Complex comprises 10 teams from 10 constituencies of East Delhi. Players from the age group of 17-36 years have taken part in the league after clearing selection trials.
Former Ranji players were elected as selectors and coaches so that the cricketers get the best guidance for the journey ahead. Each of the 10 teams has 25 players. The finalists will play the finals on December 13.
The teams are Jangpura Lions, Kundli Kings, Okhla Tigers, Trilokpuri Stars, Patparganj Panthers, Shahadra Avengers, Krishnagar Royals, Laxminagar Warriors, Vishwasnagar Devils, and Gandhinagar Gladiators.
In addition, the champions will bag a cash prize of 30 lakhs while the runners-up will be awarded 20 lakhs. The Player of the Series will be rewarded with a WagonR car.
Players who will hit the most maximums, best batter, best bowler, best fielder, and best wicketkeeper will be gifted scooters as well. The best player will be given an opportunity to train in Australia or UAE with international facilities.
