Chelsea‘s Edouard Mendy says he is most excited to face Barcelona‘s Memphis Depay at the World Cup. Memphis Depay could be another possible signing for the Blues next transfer window. While talking to the media Mendy commented that he is looking forward to playing against Barcelona’s Memphis Depay. Edouard Mendy’s Senegal faces Netherlands in their opening match at the World Cup.

Edouard Mendy to face Memphis Depay at the World Cup

The match between Senegal and Netherlands is going to be an interesting opening match at the World Cup. While talking to wetbasis, Mendy commented,

“Even in the group stage we are dealing with the Netherlands, among others, who have world-class players such as Frenkie De Jong, Virgil van Dijk and Memphis Depay,”

The Chelsea goalkeeper further continued:

“If we do go through to the knockout stage, I’d look forward to playing the very best in the world, whether it’s Neymar with Brazil, Lionel Messi with Argentina or the England national team, where some of my club-mates play.”

Memphis to Chelsea next transfer window

Apparently, the Dutch player wants an out from the Catalan club after his contract expires in June. It has been reported that the player plans to return back to the Premier League after his contract expiration. Chelsea seems to be one of the clubs who are interested to sign the player. There is a bit of debate going on around the Chelsea fans if Stamford Bridge is the right place for the Dutch. A player as injury as prone as him could be a setback for the Blues.
