Nothing has been more meteoric than the rise of Hugo Ekitike. The French striker, who dazzled at Reims from his early days in football before PSG paid €35m to take him off his hands, is hammering home for Eintracht Frankfurt now. And guess what? As it stands, all the Premier League giants — Arsenal, Liverpool and West Ham — have been circling like hawks, hoping to swoop in this summer.
That Ekitike managed to score 17 goals in all competitions this season says he’s not a one season wonder. Although Frankfurt fans might love him, on the coming of Premier League clubs with cheque books loyalty rarely comes to the bench.
Ekitike: Arsenal’s Missing Piece?
We know Arsenal’s attack has been wobblier than a Jenga tower after Friday night out. The Gunners are desperate for a reliable goal machine in the wake of Gabriel Jesus being sidelined and their January transfer plans failing (poor Ollie Watkins, so close yet so far).
Ekitike is the sort of forward that has pace, precision and the kind of finishing that forces goalkeepers to doubt their place in the world. But Frankfurt’s asking price? A hefty £66m. One possible reason for that is Mikel Arteta will probably have to raid the Emirates vending machines for extra funds.
Liverpool & West Ham Join the Chase
This isn’t just Arsenal showing interest. Ekitike is a prospect that Liverpool will keep their eye on as they seek to find their future successor to their current aging forwards. Klopp loves a versatile attacker and Ekitike’s mix of finesse and raw power is just right.
Meanwhile, West Ham had also been after Ekitike longer than most now – since 2023 in fact. But there must be a sense of joy at the Hammers after PSG swiped him away back then. He’d definitely link up with Bowen and Kudus — that is the recipe for chaos (of a good sort).
