England skipper Joe Root has made England in a leading position after the end of the 3rd day of the second test. We have already seen a batting performance by Indian batsman K L Rahul. Now Joe Root has played a brilliant knock of unbeaten 180 runs. After the stumps of Day 3, England lead by 27 runs.
Day 3: Highlights-Joe Root’s unbeaten 180
Indian bowlers especially the pacers tried to get early breakthroughs, but Root was in a good shape. He has scored an unbeaten 180 runs in 321 balls. He has hit 18 fours.
There was a good partnership of 121 runs between Root and Bairstow. Bairstow has scored 57 runs and was bowled by Ishant Sharma. The wicket-keeper batsman Butler scored 23 runs. The man brought into the squad for batting, Moeen Ali got 27 runs.
For the Indian side, Ishant Sharma bowled well and Siraj was exceptionally well in this innings.
Siraj got 4 wickets, Ishant picked 3 wickets. By dismissing Anderson at the last ball of the day, Shami got 2 wickets in the first Innings.
There are two days left in this test match. There is a high possibility that the match will end as a draw if something interesting not happens. The first couple of hours will be crucial for team India. It will be exciting to see the intent of the Indian top-order batsmen. Though the form of Pujara and Rahane is a matter of concern. But Rahul and Rohit along with Kohli may pull the things in favour of India on day 4.
