England not playing their Best Cricket: Frustrated Jos Buttler

Since Eoin Morgan’s departure, England’s white ball cricket has indeed been going through a rough patch. The present white ball captain of England Jos Buttler agreed that too. The consecutive failures sighed out a frustrating from his chest saying they haven’t played their “best cricket by a long stretch”.

The reality check came after the ugly series defeat against South Africa by 2-1. The decider match was a failed attempt too for the English at Ageas Bowl. The ODI series against South Africa was a 1-1 draw as the last one was decades postponed due to rain. Before hosting South Africa, they also face defeats against India, both in the ODI and the T-20I series.

It has indeed been a “reality check” for Buttler. In the post match conference, Buttler regretted saying,

“We haven’t played our best cricket by a long stretch and I don’t think we have been able to impose ourselves. We can’t live in the past and pat ourselves on the backs for the changes that have been made in English cricket and the successes we have had. It’s about looking forward, trying to chase the best teams in the world and being at the forefront of that.”

Don’t want to overreact to situations’: Jos Buttler

It has been the first time since 2013, that England saw the face of a series win in white ball cricket. Buttler took the captaincy right after Morgan announced his retirement. However, there’s no way of Buttler denying the fact that they have been out played every time. Despite of having the crowd cheering for them, they couldn’t gift the fans any remarkable win. English were seen frustrated, angry, sometimes bashing their own players for disappointing performances. On this, Buttler said,

“We do need an honest chat. You don’t want to overreact to situations but you could sense the frustration around the ground with the ‘get on with it, England’ chants. You don’t want to be associated with that.”

However, the 31 year old Buttler is hugely disappointed about the recent approach of his team. They have been lacking the urge to fight back, lack to take risks. He also expressed his concerns about his recent battimg. He has been unable score runs, which is definitely an issue for his team.
