Young players like Bukayo Saka, and Jude Bellingham opened up the scoring for England, later it was followed up by Chelsea’s Sterling, Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford and Manchester City’s Jack Grealish also registered their names in the scoresheet. Bukayo Saka scored a double in his first World Cup match. This was Jude Bellingham’s first ever World Cup, and he really did perform amazingly in the match and also managed to bag a goal.

Gareth Southgate had a lot to prove with this opening after their underwhelming performance in the Nations League. Though with this performance, the English fans are confident that the nightmare from Nations League will not be repeated. Harry Maguire was under a lot of pressure than any of his other teammates. The United captain put up a good shift in England’s first match against Iran. He even provided an assist for Saka’s first goal. But he had to come off due to a head injury in the second half. Another player who have impressed the masses is Jude Bellingham. The youngster was the first teenager to start for England since 2014. The 19-year-old was magnificent in the midfield last night.

Marcus Rashford also managed a goal just after coming on in the second half. The English striker and captain Harry Kane also put on a decent shift last night. He managed to register an assist to his name for the Sterling game. Last night’s game have given English fans some hope that they might go a long way in the World Cup campaign.
