Benfica are yet to agree to Chelsea‘s bid for Enzo Fernandez. Enzo Fernandez has been heavily linked with Chelsea since the start of the transfer window. But now the Blues are running out of time to sign him as the transfer window ends next week. He is said to be on the priority list of Chelsea since winning the World Cup. His future has been the biggest talk this transfer window. It is still not clear where the player would end up playing for the rest of the season. Benfica demands £ 105 million as a release clause for whoever wishes to sign the player. Chelsea were close to signing him earlier this month but the talks collapsed after Chelsea failed to agree to pay the release clause. They have revived their interest in the player again and have made an official bid.
Enzo Fernandez remains to be in the priority list for Chelsea
Chelsea have already signed six players so far in the transfer window. They have mostly bolstered the attack of the team. Graham Potter’s side is still very light on the midfield area. With both Jorginho and N’Golo Kante‘s contract ending by the end of this season, Chelsea are looking to sign new midfielders. Enzo Fernandez have already proved himself in the World Cup. The youngster was even named the Young Player of the Tournament. Therefore Fernandez is looking to be the perfect target for Chelsea. However, the Benfica manager is still confident that the player would continue with Benfica for the rest of the season. The manager said,
“Yes, of course [I’m confident Enzo stays]. I think when you see Enzo playing at the moment for Benfica, I see a player who is on his top level, who is very happy to play for the club and I think there is nothing else in the mindset of the player. He further added, “I don’t expect that we lose any of our players who are playing a lot and who are in the starting XI. That’s why I see very focused players and that’s why I expect that he stays.”
Chelsea are still trying to finalize the deal for Enzo Fernandez. However, the bid is yet to be accepted by Benfica. Liverpool are also interested in signing the player. They had also made a bid for the player. But it is believed that Chelsea are leading the race to sign the player. The player is also interested in joining the Blues at Stamford Bridge.
