ESPN Pundit is shocked that Chelsea signed the £39 million player, after seeing him in yesterday’s loss

Following Chelsea’s loss to Wolves yesterday, pundit Steve Nicol was left wondering why one Chelsea player is still with the team, after another disappointing performance.

Speaking to ESPN, Steve expressed his belief that the person who decided to sign Axel Disasi over the summer, demonstrated a lack of skill in their recruitment process.

Disasi was one of the two center backs that completed the lineup that, at first glance, appears to be Chelsea’s stronger pairing in recent weeks. But against a Wolves team led by Pedro Neto and Matheus Cunha, the team were far from the best. At Stamford Bridge, the latter scored a hat-trick, and Disasi’s own goal negated the other goal in the 4-2 loss.

The 25-year-old has faced a lot of criticism since joining Chelsea for £39 million in the summer. He has had a difficult start to his tenure.

Chelsea update: Nicol critiques Disasi’s defensive lapses Stamford Bridge crowd.

Nicol says he is unable to understand why Chelsea’s executives decided to sign him at that point of time. He said: “Disasi. Who bought him? You’ve got Silva who’s 39. This is a bad Chelsea team. Whoever picked these players has shown that they’re in the wrong job.”

Mauricio Pochettino, who is feeling more and more pressure on himself and his position, does not currently fit or available for the ideal first choice central defensive partnership in the long run.

Wesley Fofana has missed the entire season due to injury. Levi Colwill’s absence has typically led to Chelsea giving up four goals, which has happened four times already this season.

Silva’s head from a corner did give Chelsea fans who were still at Stamford Bridge some cause for celebration. But there wasn’t much to cheer about from yet another dismal performance and the team’s first home loss to Wolves since 1979.
