Esteban Ocon has again taken Fernando Alonso on his target.
The relationship between teammates Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon was not on the best terms in 2022. The duo was involved in a lot of moments frustrating for both.
There were numerous occasions this year when both of them expressed their dissatisfaction with the other. Alonso was a lot more vocal on the radio and in public. However, Ocon was also equally sour towards his teammate.
Numerous times the duo blocked each other most recently in Brazil where both even made contact in the Sprint. The situation became so worse that the team had to use orders to prevent both of them from going all out against each other. Ocon explained his team orders earlier too.
Now, the Frenchman has again made some comments that are rather controversial against his now ex-teammate.
“Of course I was disappointed by his comments in the press that were not made internally,”
Ocon told Ouest-France.
“We didn’t have any discussions about any of that, so I will keep the respect I have for him. But it’s good that he’s going to Aston Martin and that we’re going our own way.
“Honestly, the work was 98 percent on my back and 2 percent on his. I was overworked. I did all the development on the simulator, the marketing…”
These statements are rather controversial. Ocon outscored Alonso coming home in P8 ahead of his teammate in P9. However, the points can not clearly define the full picture as Alonso suffered a lot of retirements.
