Arsenal bottled yet again. Their latest encounter against Brighton could not end perfectly as they expected. Their youngster Ethan Nwaneri has shined in the match but was not enough.
ARSENAL BOTTLES AGAIN
Arsenal misses yet another opportunity to win their latest Premier League match. The Gunners got off to dominate at the start of the match. Ethan Nwaneri gained everyone’s faith by scoring an early goal to take the lead for the team.
Unfortunately, the advantage did not last for long. Brighton slowly picked up the pace and returned. After several opportunities, Brighton’s pressure finally came to place. William Saliba made a foul in their box, gifting a penalty to the Brazilian Joao. Thus, allowing the Brazilian to take a spot for the team.
Arsenal made great use of set pieces in the closing moments. But, in the end, both of them were unable to convert those chances.
Nwaneri’s second Premier League goal proved his worth to be a potential forward. The 17-year-old has been tasked as a backup for the injured Bukayo Saka in attack. Therefore, under pressure, he did a good job.
It could have ended worse. But Arsenal’s latest gameplay has not been impressive. Their time-wasting tactics did not pay off.
This result is a huge blow for Arteta. Liverpool is already ahead of them by 5 points. Also, considering Liverpool has two games in hand.
ETHAN NWANERI SHINES, ARSENAL DOESN’T
This youngster is the only one who is playing to win the game. Arteta’s tactics could have ended horribly if not for Nwaneri.
Nwaneri started in as a Saka backup and acted exactly when required. His strike had an immediate effect on the team.
However, the youngster could not continue and had to be substituted. It is evident from the fact that Nwaneri is also injured after this clash.
So, this is truly a piece of bad news for Arteta. Arsenal’s frustration did not end that day. The match’s turning point was when the penalty was conceded in the second half of the game.
And of course, the referee was none other than Anthony Taylor. He deemed that William Saliba made sufficient contact to give away a foul.
Arteta tried to claim that there was a contact in the ball before the tussle with Joao Pedro. However, VAR decided there was no clear error. This, infact leaves Arsenal fans more frustrated.
This draw has impacted the Gunners in the worst way possible. The calls, decision-making, and gameplay all have been bad. The refereeing surely is a huge concern for the Gunners.
AUTHOR’S OPINION
So, this is a wake-up call for Arsenal. In August, Declan Rice’s red card created controversies which left the Gunners questioning the consistency of bookings. Therefore, the bookings have infuriated the Emirates.
I think Arsenal will have to make sure of a better team. This transfer window will be the only hope for Arteta to make anything beneficial.
The Gunner fans will have to be ready for the transfers. Until then, they have nothing but regret. They will have to wait for the more perfect moment.
Now that the VAR is not siding with Arsenal, it is becoming worse for them. Many horrible decisions have led Arsenal to this moment.
Comment down your thoughts on Ethan Nwaneri.
