According to the Chelsea Chronicle, Chelsea are very close to finally selling Euro finalist Conor Gallagher. This is a big transfer window for Chelsea as they look to rebuild their squad. However before buying it is also important to sell some players. As stated by Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) of Premier League. They rules states that any club cannot use the money from sponsors or revenue from broadcasting for transfer business. Sales of players is important before buying any more players. Due to this rule Chelsea will be looking to offload some of their players and Conor Gallagher can provide a hefty sum. Gallagher’s situation at the club remains very uncertain. The England international was a regular starter for the majority of last season where he put up some decent performances. Gallagher was the man who stepped up in the midfield position when other players were suffering from injuries.
Conor Gallagher was also called by Gareth Southgate for Three Lions Euro 24 squad. Gallagher even started some matches in the group stage alongside Arsenal’s Declan Rice and Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham. After having regular appearances under Mauricio Pochettino this season will be different for Gallagher and other Chelsea players. The news of Mauricio Pochettino’s unexpected sacking shocked all the Chelsea fans and the players as well. Chelsea appointed Enzo Maresca as the new manager who managed Leicester City for only one season. It is now very uncertain who will be in the starting lineup under the new manager and who will be sold this summer. Last season Chelsea suffered many injuries in their squad. Many other clubs also faced this problem however Chelsea were the most affect by this problem. Many of their key players like Reece James, Christopher Nkunku were out for majority of the season with injuries.
Euro finalist Conor Gallagher can be sold this summer
Injuries are not the only thing to be blamed for Chelsea’s poor performance last season. Chelsea ended up signing many young players in their squad recently. Many of these young players take their good amount of time to adapt to the fast pace gameplay of Premier League. Some youngsters like Romeo Lavia are yet to play their first minutes with Chelsea in the Premier League. Players like Moises Caicedo took a very long time to find their form with the Blues. Also due to injury problems the starting lineup and the tactics by manager were constantly changing with every match. This gave players even more difficult time to fit themselves and get used to the tactics. It was also difficult for the players to build chemistry with each other. However Chelsea were performing well towards the end of the last season.
Ian Maatsen and Omari Hutchinson are two youngsters that are already sold by Chelsea this summer. Chelsea have not offered Conor Gallagher a new contract and they may have found his buyers this summer. It is reported by Fabrizio Romano that Atletico Madrid are close to sign Conor Gallagher at a price range of €35/40m with add ons. Gallagher is not included in the pre season squad of Chelsea after being involved in the Euros 24 final. This is a very shocking decision to sell Conor Gallagher after the player was described “priceless” by Mauricio Pochettino. Gallagher was also the man who stepped up against Tottenham in the North London derby. Chelsea had many players injured in that match yet they still managed to pull off a win. They also beat West Ham United 5-0 and Gallagher played a key role in that game as well by controlling the midfield.
