Everton at “very advanced” stage to sign Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks

According to FA registered agent Paul O Keefe, Everton are closing in on a deal to sign midfielder Harry Winks. The deal is said to be worth between £ 20 million and £25million this means Everton are set to acquire the 26-year-old from Tottenham.

O Keefe has very strong connections to Tottenham. He has also reported that the initial talks have already been held between the clubs.

Harry Winks has fallen from grace at Tottenham

The Englishman has had just 15 games in Tottenham. He was unused by both Nuno and Conte in their lineups for the first team. Moreover, Spurs have signed reinforcements in the midfield region now. The arrival of Bissouma and Bentacur makes it difficult for Harry Winks to break into the first team now. Also, Harry Winks is reported as “not a part of Antonio Conte’s plans” for Tottenham.

Everton closing in on the deal

Everton are desperate for reinforcements this season. A handful of players have left already but new players are yet to come in. Frank Lampard’s team has yet to sign anyone officially. Although, James Tarkowski is expected to join the Merseyside club once his contract at Burnley officially expires on the 30th of June

Winks is a nice supplement to the squad. However, he isn’t expected to have a standout season in the club and push the club in the right direction. He has had a few good games for Tottenham but has failed to live up to the expectations placed upon him.

The Everton midfield is not in a very sound state. Winks is expected to make it into the first team very easily. And one cannot see him struggle for minutes here, given the crumbling state of the midfield at Goodison Park.
