Everton, Six Sports

Everton are looking to resign their former star player Idrissa Gueye this summer from PSG. Gueye left the Toffees for PSG back in 2019. Since then Everton are struggling to fill the gap left by the player when he left the club. Gueye has a year left on his contract. PSG are looking to cash in on the midfielder before he leaves on a free transfer the next season.

The midfielder was arguably one of the best midfielders for the Toffees. He moved from the relegation-facing Aston Villa in 2016 to Everton. In the 2016 calendar year, Gueye made the highest number of successful tackles and interceptions per match in Europe’s top five leagues. Gueye played for the Merseyside club for three years and scored four goals for them. Gueye leaving Everton left a hole in their midfield. Everton have not been able to fill the gap in midfield created by the player leaving to this day.

Gueye will add depth and quality to the midfield of Everton

Everton are lacking a lot of quality and depth in their midfield. They are scouring the market for a quality midfielder this season. Harry Winks of Tottenham was linked with a move to Goodison Park to cover the deficit in the midfield. However, the interest seems to have cooled off now. Recently, reports have emerged of Everton wanting to re-sign Idrissa Gueye for their midfield.

Despite being 32 years old, there is no denying that Gueye will add some much-needed quality and depth to the midfield. the Senegalese footballer has put strong performances for PSG in the last two seasons. However, PSG are keen on selling the player this summer and the Toffees have expressed their interest in him. According to a report from L’Equipe, his representatives are in talks with Everton, but as of yet, his future remains undecided.
