Last month Manchester United offered 35M plus add-ons for the Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite. But Everton turned down that bid and expected more for the English international. Now, it seems like the Red Devils are willing to pay 45M plus 5M add-ons for Jarrad Branthwaite. But the scenario does not change. The Toffees still want a little bit more for their star defender.
Manchester United is facing a crisis for the center defender position in the team. French defender Rafael Varane confirmed his departure at the start of this month. Along with Varane, another Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof’s future at Old Trafford is also uncertain, as he entered the final year of his current contract. As many clubs are interested in signing Lindelof in the summer and no talks have been held for the Red Devils about his contract renewal, it seems likely that the Sweden international will also leave Manchester United.
So, Manchester United want to bring some defenders in this summer. The Red Devils have some options to fill the gap in their backline. Manchester United already talked with French side Lille about the availability of their star defender, Leny Yoro. Apart from that, United also keep the door open for the Dutch international De Ligt from German side Bayern Munich.
Bayern Munich wants around 43M plus adds-on for the Dutch international De Ligt, which seems reasonable for Manchester United. The Red Devils can bring Lille’s young defender Leny Yoro within the price money of 50M. So, if the Red Devils fail to complete the deal of 22-year-old Jarrad Branthwaite of Everton, they will consider the rest of the two.
Jarrad Branthwaite Performance For Everton
The English international had a pretty good season with the toffees. Despite Everton’s 15th-place finish in the Premier League last season, the 22-year-old maintained a good form for the club. Branthwiate made a total of 41 appearances for the club last season across all competitions. Man Utd are hoping that Branthwaite is the perfect player for their backline.
Will Branthwaite Join Manchester United this summer?
Well, there is no green signal for Manchester United for Jarrad Branthwaite. After the turning down of a 50M transfer bid, it seems like the toffees believed that the English international expected more.
Everton might learned from the previous purchases of United, where the Red Devils paid a huge amount for players like Antony, Rasmus Hojlund, etc. So, keeping that in their mind, the toffees are demanding more.
But you never know what will happen in the transfer market. Things can change very fast. Jarrad Branthwaite is keen to join Manchester United in this summer. But for that, United have to pay a good amount of money.
