Fabrizio Romano drops the latest update on the transfer of Conor Gallagher

Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano, shares the latest update on Conor Gallagher deal on deadline day. Romano tweets that Gallagher will be staying with no any further movements for now. The English midfielder was linked with Tottenham throughout the window. Though, it looks like the race is finally over.

Gallagher was wanted by Postecoglou and Chelsea were open to doing business for Gallagher as long as a massive £50-60m price tag was met. However, with only a few hours left it was not possible for the deal to materialize.

This seems to be it from both the parties. The midfielder will remain at Chelsea and one of the most written about stories can finally come to an end. Although, this deal will most likely be revisited in the next summer transfer market. Chelsea have not made any significant commotion in the market this month. On the other hand, Spurs made some crucial signings like Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin during the window. They remain in the top four and Werner in particular has hit the ground running.

The Blues will look forward to their remaining campaign and try to finish in a European spot. They are also having a Carabao Cup final against league leaders Liverpool next month. Though, in their latest clash with the Reds, they were disappointed by a 4-1 loss to the hosts. Pochettino has been unable to bring a change in the intensity of the club since his move. The way they conceded at Anfield were really sloppy goals with Jota running past the centre-backs for his goal. If Chelsea are to finish in a satisfactory spot, they must start to work on their team co-ordination and have a good run of games left in the campaign.
