May be its not the time to tell Arsenal fans to get excited. The gunners lost their last league game against Crystal Palace 3-0 which denied them re-entry in the top-four. Arsenal now sit in the fifth place as Tottenham occupy the last spot for the Champions League. But the gunners have some good news for their next season. Reliable journalist and transfer ‘guru’ Fabrizio Romano has an update on the summer plans of Arsenal.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has time and time again admitted that the gunners are low on options. Moreover, their striker problems are not unknown and it tops their priority list for the summer. However, Romano has some assuring news for the Arsenal fans ahead of the summer window. But it need not be mentioned separately that a top four finish will influence their market strategy.
“Arsenal difficult to track”- Fabrizio Romano
Arsenal have high hopes from this season as they are in scintillating form. Mikel Arteta is on course to be firmly backed again in the transfer market. Fabrizio Romano who was speaking on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel FIVE has given an insight on transfer plans revolving Arsenal. However, the Italian himself seems in a fix over tracking the North Londoners’ market strategies.
Romano said, “The most difficult club to track with transfers is Arsenal because they depend on Champions League football. They are waiting before jumping into concrete negotiations.”
He further explained why Arsenal are gearing up for an exciting transfer window. “I’m really curious to see this transfer window for Arsenal. This summer, if they will get Champions League football, it will be time for the next step, in attacking positions and even a new midfielder. This is why I say Arsenal”.
Why Arsenal fans should be really excited for the summer
Arsenal spent a massive £150 million last summer which raised even their fans’ eyebrows. Arsenal are short on a regular goals-scorer which has been a weak link. Aubameyang left in January, and Lacazette has failed to deliver. Moreover, his deputy Nketiah never lived up to the expectations. But summer could see a different scenario as both Lacazette and Nketiah are tipped to leave the club. As a result, Romano says Arsenal are vigorously searching for a new striker. Many exciting names have been already linked in Alexander Isak, Calvert-Lewin, and Darwin Nunez.
Darwin Nunez’s deal could demand a fee in the range of £65-70 million. And Arsenal are just ready to splash that amount. Arteta knows Arsenal’s top four finish could boost their budget for the summer. Furthermore, the manager’s patience in not pressing for a striker in January could also pay off. Arsenal’s on loan players Torreira and Guendouzi are also impressing and their sale is on the cards. Romano had earlier told that departures from the current Arsenal squad will be facilitated as well with Granit Xhaka poised to leave.
All the news and revelation from Romano over the transfer plans of Arsenal are more than enough to excite the fans. However, a Champions League spot is crucial to of Arsenal’s transfer targets. They still have a game in hand over fourth placed Tottenham, but have to avoid debacles like the Selhurst Park’s to make it to the top four.
