Fabrizio Romano shares what he has heard about Arsenal and Karim Benzema situation

Former Real Madrid sensation, Karim Benzema has been a matter of speculations so far in this window. Journalist Fabrizio Romano has now shared another interesting story developing between Arsenal and Karim Benzema.

With the January transfer window in full swing, reports have been doing the rounds linking the Gunners with a new forward. Arsenal are monitoring for a deal with the Frenchman amidst the Al-Ittihad turmoils.

The Gunners may even consider a loan move for the star. forward. Now Romano has cleared the stance by sharing what he knows about this whole drama. Writing on CaughtOffside, Romano said Al-Ittihad are planning to play hardball over Benzema’s signature.

From what I’m hearing from the club side, Al-Ittihad have no intention to give any green light for Benzema to leave in January. Let’s see what the situation is like in the next days and see what happens with Benzema.

At the moment, guys, I’m not aware of any advanced deal or anything concrete with an English club – including with Arsenal, despite various rumours.”

Although Benzema joined the Saudi Pro League in summer, he is not happy with his life there. He is under criticism by the Saudi media, despite scoring 15 goals in 24 appearances.

However, the defending champions of Saudi League, currently sit 25 points behind league leaders Al-Hilal. The rumours do make sense as Arteta is in need of an out-and-out striker and Karim wants to leave. This will be a huge addition to the ranks of Arsenal to bolster their chances of silverware. Though Benzema is reported to be on a staggering £3,580,776 a week at the club. Obviously he’d need to take a huge pay cut were he to leave the Saudi Pro League.
