In the ongoing Fenesta Open Nationals, second-seeded Vaidehi Chaudhari was put under pressure by Akanksha Nitture in the quarter-final match-up. Vaidehi won the match 4-6, 6-2,6-3 to make her way into the final four. 

So far the rankers in the women’s matchups have fared up well. Eventually, it was the fitness of the players which ultimately determined the winner. In the match both the players teased, tormented and tested each other. Ultimately it was Vaidehi who showed better skills and fitness to cross the line. 

Vaidehi said,

“It was a tough day today for me, I have played against her twice. This was a great match which was a tough one. I played well and pulled through.”

First seeded Zeel Desai, Samhitha Sai Chamarthi and Sharmada Balu made it to the semi-finals. Zeel Desai came on top of Rashmikaa Shrivalli Bhamidpaty with 7-6, 6-1.

According to Zeel Desai,

“It was a good game. In the first set, Rashmikaa  was playing really a big game. Her serve and forehands were strong, so sometimes I had to play defensive and win the points with a defensive approach. Overall, I am happy and looking forward to Friday’s match.” 

While on the other hand, fourth-seeded Samhitha Sai Chamarthi dominated 6-4, 6-0 Vanashita Pathania. Samhitha said,

“It was really great, I was down 0-4 and she played tremendous tennis in the first set. After that, I took 12 games in a row to beat her. I appreciate the way she played today and I also played really aggressive after that.”

Sharmada Balu is having a dream run in the Nationals so far, as she registered a straight win against Reshma Maruri. She said,

“I feel really good. I think I played some good tennis today and I’m happy to be playing the semi- finals. I am looking forward to the match tomorrow.”

Top seeded Niki Poonacha outplayed Prithvi Sekhar 6-4,6-2. After the match Nikki said,

“The first set was little bit tight like yesterday but successfully pulled through. In the second set, I was feeling confident and was going for my shots. I hope to do the same in the semi-finals.” 

While in other matches, Nitin Kumar Sinha went past S D Prajwal Dev 6-4,6-4. Meanwhile, Paras Dahiya beat 7-6,6-3. The most exciting match to watch was the match between Digvijay Pratap Singh and Siddharth Vishwakarma. Eventually, Digvijay came on top 7-5, 6-7, 6-3. 

Digvijay said after his exhausting match,

“It was a pretty tough match. I lost to Siddharth in the last few matches so I knew this one was going to be a tough fight. I just had to believe in myself and give it my shot and wait for the opportunities”

Fenesta Open Nationals bring in its business end. Each and everyone has been in great touch. It’s just a matter of time when we will see the winner.
