Five Chelsea stars are nominated for this year’s Ballon d’Or award, which is going to be presented on 28th October. Chelsea posted all their Ballon d’Or nomination details on their official website. Last season’s Chelsea’s star man, Cole Palmer, got his position in the nomination list after his stunning performance in last season.
Apart from Cole Palmer, four more Chelsea stars from the Blues women’s team also got enlisted, namely Lucy Bronze, Sjoeke Nusken, Lauren James, and Mayra Ramirez.
Ballon d’Or nominees from Chelsea football club
Cole Palmer had an outstanding season with Chelsea in the last Premier League campaign. It was like a one-man show. The former Manchester City star joined the Blues last season. In only his first season, the 22-year-old showed his class. Palmer scored 25 goals and provided 15 assists in his 45 appearances across all competitions. He finished second (22) in the highest goal-scorer list last season, after Manchester City’s Erling Haaland (27) and also came second (11) in the highest assists-provider list, after Aston Villa‘s Ollie Watkins (13). Palmer also won the Premier League Young Player of the Season. So, there was no doubt that he was going to be enlisted for the Ballon d’Or nominations.
Apart from Cole Palmer, four more Chelsea stars from their women’s team also got their position in the nominations list for the women’s Ballon d’Or 2024. Lucy Bronze, Sjoeke Nusken, Lauren James, and Mayra Ramirez from the Chelsea women’s team were selected for the award. However, Lucy Bronze joined the Blues this summer from Spanish giants, FC Barcelona. She made 38 appearances in the last season for Barcelona and won both the Spanish title and the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
Four players are nominated from the Chelsea Women’s Team
Sjoeke Nusken was nominated for the Ballon d’Or 2024 award. She joined the Blues last season only, from German side, Eintracht Frankfurt. Nusken appeared 38 times last season for the Blues, bagged 12 goals, and provided 4 assists. The 23-year-old made 21 appearances in WSL out of 22 last season and helped the Blues to win WSL in the last season.
Most importantly, she is a versatile player who has played different positions for the Blues during the last season. She also featured in the German squad at the Paris Olympics, where the German side won the Bronze medal.
Chelsea star forward, Lauren James, had 19 goal contributions in the last season in just 29 matches across all competitions. Since joining the Blues in 2021, James wasn’t having a great time. However, the last season was far better than the previous two seasons combined. But will it be enough to win the Ballon d’Or award this year? For the answer, we will have to wait.
And finally, another Chelsea forward, Mayra Ramirez, who joined the Blues in January this year from Spanish side, Levante. Before joining the Blues, Ramirez scored 7 goals in 12 appearances last season for Levante. Since joining Chelsea, the 25 year-old made 13 appearances, scoring 5 goals and providing 3 assists. She contributed a lot to Chelsea’s WSL triumph in the last season.
These are the five Chelsea players who are nominated for the Ballon d’Or 2024 award. Cole Palmer is the only one who was selected for the men’s category from Chelsea.

Apart from Cole Palmer, four more English international also booked their spot in the Ballon d’Or nominees. They are Jude Bellingham of Real Madrid, Phil Foden of Manchester City, Harry Kane of German side Bayern Munich, and finally Bukayo Saka of Arsenal. Ten Premier League players were involved in the nominees list.
