Chelsea just completed another signing this summer window after signing Filip Jorgensen from Spanish side Villarreal. The Blues already completed the seven signings in this summer transfer window before this move. Mainly the club focuses on young talents. So, till now the Blues made eight transfer signing and five of them were under the age limit of 20 years age.
Only two players are above the age of 24 years, Tosin Adarabayo from Fulham and Kiernan Dewsburry-Hall from Leicester City. New signing Flip Jorgensen is only 22 years old.
So under Todd Boehly, Chelsea continue their tradition of bringing young talents around the world. New manager Enzo Maresca is facing a problem with the goalkeeper position after joining the Blues this summer. Two of Chelsea’s first-team goalkeepers Robert Sanchez and Petrovic are not that good enough. Both Sanchez and Petrovic joined the Blues last season from Brighton and New England respectively. Last season’s Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettinho used both the goalkeeper as Chelsea’s first-choice goalkeeper but both of them failed to perform well enough.
Who will be Chelsea’s first-choice goalkeeper?
While Robert Sanchez started the season as Chelsea’s main man for the goalkeeper position. However, as the season progressed Petrovic replaced Sanchez. But no one was good enough. That’s why new manager Enzo Maresca wants a new number-one in his squad who could start for Chelsea in the upcoming season. Sanchez only managed to keep 3 clean sheets in his 16 matches for the Blues last season in the Premier League and conceded 25 goals, while his teammate Petrovic was able to keep 5 clean sheets in his 23 outings in the Premier League last season and conceded 38 goals.
Chelsea have another option for the goalkeeper position and that is Kepa Arrizabalaga. Kepa spent last season with Champions League winner Real Madrid on a season-long loan spell. however, Chelsea are not willing to keep Kepa in the current squad. Saudi clubs are interested in Kepa, but the Spaniard still finding options in the transfer market. But it looks like Kepa Arrizabalaga has no future with Chelsea.
So, Chelsea signed Flip Jorgensen from Spanish side Villarreal. Flip Jorgensen joined the Blues with a transfer fee of around 25M and signed a five-year contract with an option to extend the contract for a further year. The former Villarreal man is also very delighted to join Chelsea.
Just after joining the Blues, Jorgensen sent his message to current Chelsea’s number one Robert Sanchez. The 22-year-old said that Robert Sanchez is a very good player. Jorgensen praised Sanchez’s performance over the years and was very excited to learn various things from the Spaniard. Looks like Flip Jorgensen will be the first-choice goalkeeper under the new manager Enzo Maresca which will create problems for both Robert Sanchez and Petrovic.
