Chelsea to make a contract to sign Leverkusen’s talent Florian Wirtz. They want it to be a massive upgrade in their already enlarged squad.
FLORIAN WIRTZ AS A MASSIVE UPGRADE
The 21-year-old German registered 37 combined goal contributions in all competitions last season. He also played a very crucial role in securing the Bundesliga title under Xabi Alonso- subsequently winning the season unbeaten.
Just like the iconic last season, Wirtz has started the latest campaign, with eight goals and eight assists in his 16 matches. The Blues are keeping a close eye on his current progress. Even, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are keeping tabs on the talent, and a big move is expected for the German valued at £83 million.
WIRTZ CAN BE A GOOD ALTERNATIVE
Wirtz has averaged more progression and more passes per 90 so far this season. He has also managed to do more shot-creating actions than Joao Felix. Even if he has played more matches than the Blues first-team star, he has scored 5 goals while Felix scored 1. Felix who was the first-team player is falling behind the world-class kid.
Not only that, but Wirtz is a magnificent goal-scorer, scoring 2 goals in 5 matches in Euro 2024. He also had a passing accuracy of 93%. So, he has a huge amount of potential starting for the Premier League.
Even if Chelsea looks like it is on the right track. Many fans can finally say that confidently after a long time. They are residing in the sixth position in the Premier League with four wins, two draws, and two losses. However, the issue of this team is the amount of yellow cards being received by the team.
The issue is quite big if you think about it. Chelsea is currently leading the league with 30 yellow cards. In their recent clash against league topper Liverpool, Chelsea was missing their two defenders: Marc Cucurella and Wesley Fofana. They both had five yellow cards which caused them to have a one-match suspension. It can become a huge problem for many upcoming players if not taken seriously.
If they have to upgrade by bringing Wirtz, they first have to take care of the yellow card situation. Moreover, it can destroy player’s morals and confidence for the next games.
According to reports, Liverpool have also joined the race alongside the Blues to sign this German wonder kid. They have already made contact with the youngster’s agents to position themselves for the next summer transfer.
Aside from the Premier League side, European giants Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are also keeping a watch for him next season.
The Premier League market is curious about Florian Wirtz because of his special talent at Leverkusen. He has attracted the entire Europe, including some of the best teams in the world right now. But, in the end, time will tell that where he will land finally. As far as reports are concerned, Chelsea and Liverpool have a fairly greater lead in signing this wonder. Both can have many advantages if he lands on either of them. Chelsea might have to be a little bit careful about the yellow card situation. However, Manchester City might also join the race for Wirtz as their manager Pep Guardiola is known to be a big admirer of the German kid and is keen to see him in Etihad someday.
